Ailanto has created its new Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 collection inspired by Op Art, a style that makes use of optical illusions. Combinations or repetitions of shapes and patterns are the foundation of Op Art. The compositions are formed from geometric figures supported by the repetition of linear or chromatic elements.

Op Art actively integrates time and movement: The former because the duration of the fixation time on a work determines the different visual versions we can extract from it, and every work needs a minimum contemplation time; the latter because the optical effects are reduced to illusions of apparent dynamism.

Optical works exist as generators of perceptual responses, not so much as stable objects. They can dance, flicker…they become unstable, resisting being definitively captured.
