Fortuny · Autumn Winter 2018-2019

The Ailanto Autumn/Winter 2018-2019 collection takes as its starting point the work of the artist Fortuny, whose work is characterized by the relationship between art, technique, science, and craftsmanship, allowing him to understand and control the entire creative process. As a multifaceted man of his time, he reflected the style of modernism and his eclectic spirit in his works.
One of her creative facets was textile design. She reinterpreted the past with a profoundly modern vision of function and the possibilities of technique, innovating in fabric dyeing and printing.
Ailanto, on this occasion, drew his prints on an indigo base, as Fortuny had done, to achieve a range of nuanced colors. Fortuny would retouch his fabrics after the first print using sponges and brushes, transforming them into works of art.
Ailanto creates its printed designs by contrasting matte and glossy finishes, as if it were an oil painting, before and after applying the varnish. The prints are painted layer by layer, like paintings. After the initial coat, a glaze is applied to create a sense of depth, resulting in a fabric rich in nuances and textures.
