Ailanto & Trucco
AILANTO & TRUCCO
As if applying topiary techniques to sewing, that fascinating practice with which gardeners trim and sculpt plants into whimsical shapes, Ailanto and Trucco have joined forces to create a summer collection inspired by the Broughton Grange private garden, a lush secret in the heart of Oxfordshire.
By blurring their outlines with new lines and soft brushstrokes, the Muñoz brothers have created two exclusive prints that evoke the flowers and ferns floating on the pond, and the multicolored fish shimmering beneath its waters. Two prints that are pure Ailanto, and that bring light and life to a line of garments and accessories that are also pure Trucco, with colors as deep, volumes as rich, and textures as light as the botanical species that adorn the fabrics.
In truly special gardens, harmony and ornamentation coexist with the wildest and most exuberant vegetation. This image is so evocative for Ailanto and Trucco that they have transformed it into a metaphor for the patterned paradise they have imagined together, and for the nymph-like woman who inhabits it; as contradictory, delicate, and magnetic as a damp summer day in the English countryside.
